Staff Accountant

General Ledger Account Analysis (65%):

  • Collect, interpret, and summarize account information and trends of assigned general ledger accounts to ensure compliance with GAAP and company procedures.
  • Review, investigate and correct anomalies in financial entries, documents and reports.
  • Prepare monthly indirect cost of goods sold reports and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives including budget vs. actual variances reports to assist in monthly meetings with department managers to discuss their financial activity and reports.
  • Process fixed asset purchase invoices by reviewing all entries and supporting fixed asset invoices to determine the proper asset classification and life cycle for each asset.
  • Prepare fixed asset general ledger reconciliation and work with external CPA’s to generate month-end depreciation and amortization entries.
  • Provide guidance to staff in the areas of AP and GL.
  • Interface with multiple departments to reinforce consistencies on accounting transactions.

Banking (15%):

  • Perform daily and monthly cash reconciliation, coordinate and resolve cash discrepancies with bank.
  • Review and approve wire transfers to international and domestic vendors.
  • Assist with the preparation of borrowing base certificate requirements.

Financial Statements (Westgate and Volcano) (5%):

  • Responsible of accounts receivable and payables functions (Westgate/Volcano).
  • Perform bank reconciliation (Westgate/Volcano).
  • Prepare, post monthly journal entries and perform month-end closing (Westgate/Volcano).
  • Produce monthly financial statements and review actual to budget variances.
  • Issue 1099’s and comply with tax filing requirements.

Other (15%):

  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Assist in the accounting analysis, and budgeting of assigned general ledger accounts.
  • Assist with completion of annual regulatory filings and special projects as needed.
  • Prepare supporting schedules for the annual audits.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform accounting clerical duties such as filing, faxing, scanning, copying.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from four year college or university required, with a focus in Accounting; and two to four years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess excellent analytical skills and must be able to meet challenging datelines which may require working over 8 hours in a day.
