The Trade Compliance Coordinator ensures that SFI meets full regulatory compliance with all shipments, ocean & air, to keep the global supply chain safe. A highly organized with exceptional attention to detail skill set is critical as this position requires to be multi-tasking and functioning effectively under tight time constraints while ensuring all suppliers and business partners are following the concepts, rules and regulations of imports, timely and accurately. This function demands strong communication skills with supplier base and customs brokers to improve efficiencies and avoid any delays or inaccuracies that could result in penalties with federal agencies or that may significantly impact or compromise the reliability of the company’s supply chain. Knowledge in the food industry and strong Spanish as a second language are preferred. The Trade Compliance Coordinator follows regulatory guidance in the areas of Free Trade Agreements, Tariff Classifications, Preference Programs and Recordkeeping that are essential to guaranteeing smooth importation and thus profitability and cost savings. The Trade Compliance Coordinator assists in making adjustments when needed to address the everchanging current trade environment.

You'll provide coaching and mentoring to the finance team as well as provide support to the Director of Accounting.

You'll start each day ready to support the Finance Department's goals by ensuring the core accounting and supervisory responsibilities are met. The Import Logistics Coordinator I (ILC) requires a detail-oriented self-motivated team player able to work across department lines, providing best in class service to our internal and external customer base. The ILC works independently within broad guidelines, functions effectively under constant time constraints and has the ability to work on a number of initiatives simultaneously.

The ILC monitors and coordinates daily activity of imported ocean containers into their assigned port(s), troubleshoots problem shipments, formulates solutions and notifies appropriate stakeholders. This includes managing relationships with drayage companies to avoid demurrage fees, and recommending processes and concepts to improve efficiencies, cost savings and profitability. The ILC coordinates domestic shipments with truck carriers throughout the country, to ensure product is picked up and delivered in a timely manner. Follows up on status of loads once scheduled and updates internal sales and purchasing groups of any issues that may affect the customer requirements. The ILC is responsible for gathering relevant shipping and receiving information from the various carriers and warehouses, as well as the accuracy of completeness of this information entered into the system.
