Trade Compliance Coordinator

The Trade Compliance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance with imports and exports to facilitate timely, accurate, and cost-effective distribution of goods while maintaining high standards of food safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with suppliers, customs brokers, and transportation providers to ensure receipt of timely and accurate trade compliance documents for ocean, air, and ground shipments.
  • Maintain compliance with free trade agreements, tariff classifications, preference programs, and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Monitor import shipments and confirm status, keeping internal database information up to date.
  • Audit supplier, broker, and customs documents for accuracy and resolve discrepancies with bills of ladings and invoices as needed.
  • Participate in the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) committee.
  • Proactively identify and resolve import and export issues that may disrupt the supply chain or create delays.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 1+ years previous experience in importing and exporting with a basic understanding of import/export concepts and regulations such as trade compliance, Incoterms, Importer Security Filings (ISF), U.S. Customs, and/or Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) Classification
  • 1+ years food industry experience preferred
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in International Business or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of organization with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and function effectively under tight time constraints
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement with minimal supervision to provide best-in-class customer service
